Ahead for Social Lights calendar

Look over the following list of fundraising events and pick a non-profit you'd like to support. If you get to the party and don't know anyone, find me. I've been covering the charity scene for 35 years and can probably introduce you to some really nice people. Heck, if you can't afford a ticket, call and see if they need volunteers. Sally G

Rhonda Adams, Mark & Amy Carroll, Steve Dwojak, Julia Furtaw, Marta Hoetger, Joey & Tammy Jonna, Pat & Mary Joyce and Tom MacLean are planning the Angels Place Friends & Family Fun Day, Saturday, Aug,. 26 at Marian High School. Plans include a 9 am Fun Run, Walk & Roll and the Fun Day activities from 10 am 2 pm. The line-up of activities is mind boggling climbing wall, carnival games, face painting, inflatables, a large slide, etc. The food tent offers National Coney Island fare plus vegetarian and carnival sweets like ice cream, snow comes, cotton candy and popcorn.. Beth Ahee, Carolyn Andrea, Mariann Bolton, Mia Materka, Sue Nine and Lisa Wilson are chairing a Cruise of Historic Detroit - the 16th Anniversary Celebration of Samaritan Center, 7 -10 pm, Wednesday, Sept. 6 on a Diamond Jack's River Tour boat. Plans include boarding at Stroh's River Place, cruise, dinner and music. Proceeds support the comprehensive services provided to Samaritan Center clients on Detroit's east side. Angela Butorac is chairing Camp Casey's Gold Rush Gala. 7 11 pm, Friday, Sept. 8 at The Reserve. Plans include heavy hors d'oeurves at strolling food stations, two drink tickets, silent auction, dessert, auction, live music and dancing. Dress to impress. Gold attire will support Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. For tickets ($85) go to Proceeds support Camp Casey's equine programs for children with cancer and their families.

Pam Gray and Gillian Lazar are accepting donations for Hall & Hunter's Estate Sale benefiting Habitat for Humanity Oakland. The sale is Saturday, Sept. 9, and treasures large and small are being collected now. There is even a generous moving company Changing Places which picks up bulky items. Call Pam or Gillian at 248-644-3500 to make arrangements.

The 17th Annual Ted Lindsay Foundation Celebrity Golf Outing is Monday, Sept. 11 at the Detroit Golf Club. The Cocktails & Dinner option ($125) will also include silent and live auctions, presentation of the Courage Awards and the raffle drawing for the Chrysler 300 donated by Dick Scott in memory of the late Joann Lindsay. To register, sponsor or advertise, go to Raffle tickets ($99) are also available there. Proceeds go directly to the foundation's support of Autism Spectrum Disorder research and management.
