Ted Lindsay Celebrity Golf Outing

The 175 golfers who participated in the Ted Lindsay Foundation Celebrity Golf Outing at the Detroit Golf Club were joined by another 115 for cocktails, a silent auction ($14,000) and dinner following play. The program that followed Fr. Donald Worthy’s tribute to the memory of Joanne Lindsay and Dr. Jack Finley was emceed with good humor by Mickey Redmond and Ken Daniels. It had highlights. Austin, TX researcher Laura Hewitson, PhD. reported promise of early blood biomarkers for Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Public safety open house Sunday

09/08/2017 - The Bloomfield Hills Public Safety Department invites residents to visit and learn about public safety in a fun and interactive way at the 2017 Open House on Sunday, September 17, from noon to 4 p.m.

Join the fun at City Hall Complex, 45 E. Long Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills, for food, activities, and safety demonstrations for all ages. With a focus on public safety, the Open House will feature interactive and entertaining activities for everyone. Law Enforcement Education Program (LEEP) Kids Fingerprinting will offer free CD-ROMs of kids' fingerprints, digital photographs and descriptions for parents. Children will be able to enjoy face painting, Daisy the Clown, Stan Safety the Magical Fireman, a photo booth and participants can even try their hand a using a real fire hose. A 50-50 raffle will be held, with all proceeds going to benefit the Great Lakes Burn Camp.

Get your taste buds ready, because there will be a Taste of Bloomfield Hills featuring local eateries offering a variety of food for residents to enjoy, including ice cream, cotton candy, cupcake decorating and beverages.

There will be lots of special attractions, as well, including Michigan State Police K-9 demonstration, Oakland County Sheriff's Office Mobile Command and Tactical Response vehicles, a rock climbing wall, station tours including the gun range, as well as fire trucks and police cars that will be on display. Public Safety Department members and city staff will also be in attendance to answer any questions.

Medical students from the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine will be on hand to promote pediatric wellbeing through fun and interactive activities.

Free parking at surrounding area businesses will be posted.
