JVS Trade Secrets
“And life goes on,” said Connie Holzer, honorary chair and keynote speaker at the JVS Trade Secrets fundraising dinner. (It attracted record attendance - 560 @ $150 and up – to the Troy Marriott.) Holzer’s unique business experience did not even begin until her car dealer husband of 52 years died when she was 70 years old. Although the economy was in the dumps, she mortgaged the home where she had raised six children, got concessions from their 130 employees, and rebuilt the Tom Holzer Ford dealership into the 4th ranked regionally and 10th ranked nationally. “You are never too old to begin a new life,” she concluded. Women to Work recipient Kimberly Baker, whose fairytale life crashed when her husband went to jail for tax fraud, praised Judy Richmond and the JVS computer program. She attended it on a scholarship. “And now..because of people in this room... I can feed my kids,” Baker said, apologizing for her tears. The venue provided ample space to display the event’s traditional pick-your-own-prize raffle of 62 items, the main cocktail hour diversion.

02/17/2017 - A 25-year-old Warren woman was arrested on Thursday, February 2, in connection with an assault and battery incident involving a 55-year-old Rochester Hills man in the 1200 block of Candlestick Lane.
Sheriff's deputies responded about 6:23 a.m. to the area, after a neighbor called 911 to report that a woman in the area was heard screaming for help. Deputies responding to the scene were let into a home by a woman who witnesses in the area told deputies they saw hitting the man who lives at the home.
Deputies said the victim said he had been in a relationship with the woman, but was trying to distance himself from her. The man told deputies he ran into the woman at a club the previous night, but went home about 9 p.m. He said the woman came to his home unannounced about 6 a.m. and began hitting him and pulling his hair.
The victim told deputies he walked away from the woman and she followed him to his bedroom where she continued to assault him until authorities arrived.
The woman was arrested in connection with assault and booked into the Oakland County Jail.
