Birmingham agrees to send out city logo RFP

Handguns stolen in two different incidents
Handguns were stolen from cars in two different incidents in Bloomfield Township in the last week, police reported. On Thursday, July 5, Bloomfield Township police responded to the 6800 block of Halyard Road for a larceny from automobile report. Vandals spray paint Greek Orthodox Church
On Monday, June 25, Bloomfield Township police were called to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, located at 42816 Woodward Avenue, after a church representative discovered several exterior walls were spray painted with graffiti. Police did not reveal what the graffiti said. However, they said that exterior surveillance cameras may have been tampered with prior to the act of vandalism. Mailbox explodes when packed with fireworks
A Bloomfield Township resident was woken up at 2:15 in the morning Tuesday, July 10, by the sound of a large explosion, and discovered someone had placed fireworks in his mailbox. The resident, who lives in the 4900 block of Haddington Drive, called Bloomfield Township police after he was awoken by the sound of a large explosion, and when he went outside to investigate, he discovered his mailbox had been damaged by fireworks. Bloomfield Township police are investigating.

Elderly woman caught in $5,000 scam
An elderly Bloomfield Township woman became victim of a costly phone scam on Wednesday, July 11, when told that if she did not send $5,000 in cash, a family member would be jailed. Bloomfield Township police responded to a call in the 6200 block of Telegraph Road for a fraud complaint, where the victim and her son informed officers that the woman had received a phone call stating that if she did not send $5,000 in cash to a specific address, a family member would be jailed. Unlocked bike stolen from Birmingham alley
A Beverly Hills resident who left his bicycle in a Birmingham alley, unlocked, on Monday, July 9, came back to discover it stolen. The resident told Birmingham police that he had left the bike in the alley at Old Woodward and E. Maple around 1 p.m., and had not locked it. When he returned to retrieve the bike, it was gone. Birmingham police are investigating.

Rochester approves senior housing community
A six-story senior housing development planned at Elizabeth and Second streets by the Moceri Group was approved on Monday, July 9, by the Rochester City Council. The 243,124-square-foot project known as Blossom Mills will feature 137 units and include a library, casual dining area, a fine dining restaurant open to residents, vendor spaces, a recreation room, cooking class room, spa, swimming pool, workout room and lounge area. Rochester expedites water, sewer rate changes
