Employee charged with embezzlement

A Pontiac man accused of stealing from the Bloomfield Township department store where he worked has been charged with embezzlement, police said. Bloomfield Township Police Detective Sgt. Matt Hill said loss prevention employees at Target, 2400 Telegraph Road, observed an employee scanning Xbox Live cards while on duty and pocketing the items. Hill said store officials noted the employee's register drawer was short more than $300 from the incident, which occurred between April 22-27. An arrest warrant for the suspect was issued in August, and Kevonte Jones, 18, of Pontiac, was arrested on Wednesday, September 20, on one count of embezzlement. He was arraigned in 48th District Court and held on $5,000 or 10-percent bond. His next court date is scheduled for October 5.
