An Oakland Township woman trying to catch up on her family's laundry on Thursday, October 12, following a recent house fire told sheriff's deputies about $2,000 in clothing was stolen from a Rochester Hills laundromat.
The woman told deputies she was doing about 10 loads of laundry at Walton Cleaners, 1436 Walton Boulevard, while her home was under construction due to a recent house fire. The woman said she transferred the clothing into dryers about 8 p.m. and left the laundromat for a brief time. The woman said she returned about 9:30 p.m., and the laundromat was closed and the doors were locked. She said the laundromat wasn't scheduled to close until 10 p.m.
Attempts to contact the laundromat that evening, the woman told authorities, were unsuccessful. The woman told deputies she was able to speak with a manger the following morning, who told her all the machines were checked and no clothing was found.
