Parking bonuses on Small Business Saturday

Big things are happening in Birmingham on Small Business Saturday, which is nationally recognized as the Saturday after Thanksgiving – and those who shop locally on Saturday, November 25 will enjoy special treats from the Birmingham Shopping District (BSD) and Oakland County.

There will be no parking hassles on Small Business Saturday because the parking structures throughout downtown Birmingham are free all day. And there is also free two-hour valet parking in two different spots, with $5 for each additional hour, at two locations – Old Woodward at Hamilton, and at Maple at Henrietta, near Roots. As a matter of fact, Birmingham will offer two hours of free valet throughout the holiday season, right up until December 24, by In-House Valet, on Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 6 pm.

As an added convenience, shoppers can call the valet service before picking up their vehicle so it’s ready when they return to the valet stand.

“It’s easier than ever to park in Birmingham during the holidays with two free hours of valet parking offered in two convenient locations,” said Ingrid Tighe, executive director of the Birmingham Shopping District. “We received positive feedback from shoppers last year and are pleased to provide the service again this year.”

All sorts of treats and gift giveaways will be available to shoppers on Small Business Saturday, along with being serenaded by WOMC-104 radio. Birmingham stores providing giveaways include ArtLoft, Astrein’s Creative Jewelers, Carl Sterr, Claymore Shop, Departure Travel Management, egg by susan lazar, Gazelle Sports, Moosejaw, Old World Olive Company, refresh bath and body, Scandia home, Teacups and Toys, Tender, and The Italian Dish. Oakland County has a $5,000 prize it is offering and there are airline tickets for a lucky shopper to win from Departure Travel Management.
