A man ended up arrested after giving a forged check to a Flagstar Bank teller on Monday, December 18, in Bloomfield Township.
The man, Anthony James, 46, of Southfield, entered the Flagstar Bank branch at 3915 Telegraph Road just north of Long Lake in Bloomfield Township around 4:45 p.m., and presented a forged check to the teller. When the teller excused herself from the counter, James fled the bank with no money. He was apprehended on a traffic stop in Southfield a short time later, along with two occupants in the same vehicle.
A police investigation revealed that James was also in possession of stolen legitimate checks.
The case was presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, and they authorized an eight -count complaint, which included one count of uttering and publishing; five counts of identity theft; and two counts of concealing stolen property. The two other occupants in the vehicle were also arrested on outstanding warrants from other police agencies.
James was video arraigned on Thursday, December 21, at the Oakland County Jail in front of Judge Marc Barron of 48th District Court, with bond set at $100,000.
His next court date is set for Thursday, December 28, at 9 a.m at 48th District Court.
