Library sale to feature Old West, trains

January 12, 2018

The Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library on Wednesday, January 31, will kick off its first sale of 2018, which will feature a large collection of books about the Old West and the trains that helped to tame it.

"If you are interested in the Old West, this is the sale for you," said Ann Gruenewald, Friends book sale chair. "We had a large donation of books about the Old West, ghost towns in the west, and western fiction, as well as a large selection of books about railroads and trains.

"We also have an extra-large number of large print books this sale."

The Friends of the Rochester Hills Library book sale gives book-o-philes, game lovers, music and movie fans an opportunity to purchase items while supporting the library. While each sale has a different mix of items and special attractions, all offer an array of hardcover, softcover, paperback, children's books, DVDs, CDs and other items. Except for a few higher quality items that are priced individually, most items are priced at $1 or 50 cents.

The sale will run from Wednesday, January 31, through Sunday, February 4, at the second floor store of the library, at 500 Olde Towne Road, in downtown Rochester.

The first day of the sale is open to members of the Friends group, the library's donor support arm. Memberships are $20 for individuals, $35 for families, and $10 for students and seniors. General public hours of the sale will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 1; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, February 2 and 3; and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 4.

Books and other sale materials are donated by library patrons throughout the year. More information on how to donate or for a Friends membership may be found at rhpl.org.
