A 28-year-old Rochester Hills man was arrested on Saturday, January 13, in connection with an aggravated assault following a dispute with a woman at his home in the 1900 block of Ridgefield Court.
The victim, 25, of Shelby Township, told Oakland County sheriff's dispatchers that the man accused her of putting sugar in his gas tank, shoved her and threatened her with a baseball bat. The dispatcher could hear the man yelling in the background and told her to stop calling the police and wasting time, according to a sheriff's office report.
Deputies arrived to speak with the woman, who was seated in a vehicle with another woman outside of the home. The victim told deputies she was sleeping in another bedroom when the man woke her up and accused her of putting sugar in his gas tank, then screamed at her and told her to leave. The woman said she was trying to gather her personal items when he pushed her, then picked up a bat and started swinging it in her direction.
Deputies spoke with the man, who said he attempted to guide the woman out of the home by the shoulder, then picked up a bat to frighten her after she didn't leave.
The man was arrested in connection with felonious assault and transported to the Oakland County Jail pending charges.
Deputies said the man voluntarily admitted during the transport to the jail that he probably didn't act appropriately, and that he was in a manic state after running out of his medication.
