Packages left on the porches of two Rochester Hills homes were stolen in unrelated thefts reported within two days of each other by residents in the northern part of the city.
Oakland County sheriff's deputies met on Thursday, January 18, with a resident in the 1200 block of Kings Cove Court, near Livernois and Tienken, who said a package that was delivered and left on her front porch was stolen sometime on Saturday, January 13. The victim told authorities another package that was delivered on December 29 was also stolen.
The packages, which contained toothpaste and food containers, were valued at $50.
A Rochester Hills resident in the 1800 block of Arthurs Way, in the same area, told deputies he sold a used computer on an online auction site, packaged it for shipment and left it on his front porch about 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 11. The victim said someone rang the doorbell of his residence and he noticed the package was gone when he answered the door, and saw a white van leaving the driveway.
The victim said he assumed the package had been picked up by the United States Postal Service, which he had scheduled to pick up and ship the package. However, the victim said a postal worker arrived later in the day to pick up the package. The victim also said the buyer of the computer never received the package.
