March 2, 2018

A 35-year-old Rochester Hills man who suffered a drug overdose on Friday, February 23, was revived after receiving seven doses of Narcan, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff's deputies and paramedics with the Rochester Hills Fire Department responded about 9:23 p.m. to the report of a man suffering from a possible heroin overdose in the 20 block of Village Circle. The victim's family members called 911 after finding him lying on the bathroom floor, unconscious and not breathing.

Family members told authorities they administered three doses of Narcan and began performing CPR on the victim prior to first responders arrival at the scene.

Deputies arrived and found the victim to be unresponsive with shallow breathing. Deputies then relieved family members and continued CPR. They then administered four additional doses of Narcan to the victim before he regained consciousness.

The sheriff's office said family members notified deputies that the victim has a history of drug abuse.

Paramedics were able to stabilize the victim before transporting him to Troy Beaumont Hospital for further treatment.

The incident is under investigation.
