Liquor license renewed for Mad Hatter
The Birmingham City Commission unanimously renewed the liquor license for 2018 for the Mad Hatter Bistro at their meeting on Monday, March 12, after the restaurant paid all of its outstanding taxes.
A public hearing was set for the commission meeting at their previous meeting, on February 26, to determine if the city would file an objection with the Michigan Liquor Control Commission to the renewal of its license. The issue with Mad Hatter was an outstanding tax bill of $6,670, which management said was in the process of being paid. All of the other liquor licenses in the city were renewed for the 2018 licensing period.
City clerk J. Cherilynne Mynsberge informed commissioners that on Friday, March 2, “Mad Hatter made payment in full of taxes due.”
The commission determined that since the bistro had complied with the terms required of it, they voted 7-0 to renew their liquor license for the 2018 licensing period.
