The Rochester Fire Department has launched a multi-phase social media campaign to strengthen communication, transparency and partnerships in the community, the department has announced.

Rochester Fire Chief John Cieslik said the initial phase of the campaign began in April and leverages Facebook, with plans to incorporate Twitter, Instagram and the city's website.

"This is an important initiative to inform our community of the services provided by the Rochester Fire Department," he said. "We are proud to serve the Rochester community and look forward to the expansion of this campaign in the future."

The campaign will focus on use of common messaging across several social media platforms to provide followers with information on emergency preparedness, community outreach programs, general fire department information and news, as well as city-wide initiatives.
