Sidewalk Sales coming to Rochester mid-July

Sidewalk Sales will be held in downtown Rochester starting on Thursday, July 12, and will run through Saturday, July 14. The special summer event has been held each season for the past 63 years. "Over the years Sidewalk Sales has become something to expect during the summer in downtown Rochester," said Jenna O'Dell, events coordinator for the Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA). "For many, it isn't summer without three days filled with shopping, dining and family-friendly activities. Sidewalk Sales will run on Thursday, July 12, and Friday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The seasonal event provides special bargains from downtown Rochester merchants. Sidewalk displays will be located along Main Street and side streets in downtown Rochester. In addition to special sales and displays, entertainment and kid-friendly activities will be available, including a sand art activity from noon to 3 p.m. each day in front of 423 Main Street. Musical entertainment by Midwest Dueling Pianos will be held on Thursday evening, July 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. A special "Dancin' in the Street!" will be held on Friday night, July 13, from 6 to 10 p.m. on W. Fourth Street, with special guest band "SpaceCat" performing. A TasteFest from local Rochester eateries will also be held throughout the event. The Rochester Explorers Club will be offering a free Explorers Club Kit for children at the DDA's booth, at West Fourth and Main streets.
