Angry driver slashes tire of other car

In an incidence of road rage in Birmingham on Wednesday, August 1, a driver became enraged at another driver who was looking at his phone, and at a stop sign, the driver jumped out of his car and slashed a tire on the other man's car.

Birmingham police responded to numerous reports of a road rage incident near Old Woodward and Hazel around noon. A man told officers he was driving while looking at his phone when a car pulled up next to him and an angry driver gave him the middle finger. When the cars stopped at a stop sign, the angry driver got out of the car and slashed the other car's back tire.

The angry driver who slashed the tire, a 25-year-old from Huntington Woods, told officers he was upset because two of his friends had passed away from drivers who were texting.

He was issued a citation for malicious destruction of property and given a court date.
