Man admits to stealing hats from Varsity Shop

After Birmingham police were called for a retail fraud to the Varsity Shop, 700 S. Adams Road, a man admitted to the theft.

Officers were dispatched to the sporting goods store on Saturday, September 8, where employees said a man walked out of the store carrying baseball hats he hadn't paid for. An employee confronted the man and convinced him to come back into the store.

Police questioned the suspect, a 46-year-old man from Pontiac, who admitted to stealing the hats.

He was arrested, and a warrant is pending for retail fraud in the second degree.
