Rochester Hills briefly suspends passport services

The Rochester Hills city clerk's office has temporarily suspended passport processing services until after the Tuesday, November 6, 2018 general election.

The service, which is typically available Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., was halted on Monday, October 15, and will resume on Wednesday, November 7.

Those applying for a passport application may download one from the city's website at www.rochesterhills.org/passports. Fees for passports are $145 for a 10-year passport (age 16 and older), with $110 to the U.S. Department of State and $35 to the City of Rochester Hills for processing; $115 for a five-year passport (age 15 and younger), $80/$35 to the U.S. Department of State/City of Rochester Hills, with all payments made by check or money order.

Eligible passport holders may be able to save the $35 processing fee by mailing application fees to the Department of State. Eligibility may be checked at the federal website,.travel.state.gov. All minors age 15 and younger must apply in person using form DS-11.

Expedited processing may be requested at a cost of an additional $60 per application, payable to the Department of State.

Applicants also must include a photograph taken within the last six months, taken by the clerk's office for a fee of $10 or one that is 2 inches by 2 inches, color and show a front-facing, full-face on plain, light background. Applicants must also provide proof of citizenship in the form of a birth certificate or previous passport; and proof of identification.

Contact the Rochester Hills clerk's office for additional information at 248.656.4630 or by email at clerksoffice@rochesterhills.org.
