Stolen feast from market leads to arrest

A 54-year-old Royal Oak man was arrested on Saturday, December 29, in connection with retail fraud after trying to steal ingredients for a fine dinner from a Birmingham supermarket, police said.

Birmingham police responded about 1 p.m. to the report of a theft at Kroger, 700 East Maple, involving a man who allegedly tried to steal an unidentified amount of steak, lamb and crab from the store. A loss prevention officer at the store approached the man in the parking lot after leaving the store.

The man was arrested on suspicion of retail fraud, second degree.
