Drunk driver assaults several township cops

A driver stopped for erratic driving on Telegraph Road near 14 Mile Road was arrested for drunk driving on Wednesday, January 9, and proceeded to resist the arrest to the point that he assaulted multiple Bloomfield Township officers.

Around 9:20 p.m., a Bloomfield Township officer stopped a vehicle on Telegraph near 14 Mile Road for erratic driving, the police department reported. After conducting a roadside investigation, the driver, Jarod Najee Richardson of Pontiac, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Richardson resisted the arrest, became combative and assaulted multiple officers.

Richardson was taken into custody and transported to the Oakland County Jail without further incident.

The case was presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, and Richardson was charged with two counts of assault and resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license. Felony operating while intoxicated charges were also presented, and are pending blood alcohol results.

Richardson was arraigned in 48th District Court on Friday, July 11, before Magistrate Julie Nelson-Klein.
