Gas station employee charged with embezzlement

A Bloomfield Township gas station employee on Saturday, March 9, was arrested in connection with embezzling from her employer through an alleged returned-item ruse concocted to steal more than $150.

Police said the suspect, Kelia Latrice Spencer, was arrested about 5:10 p.m. at the Speedway gas station, 4890 W. Maple Road in Bloomfield Township, on one charge of embezzlement.

Police said the station's district manager alleged that between February 22 and March 4, Spencer removed items from store shelves and returned them for cash. The total amount taken was $160.19.

Spencer was arrested and charged with embezzlement. She is scheduled to appear on Tuesday, March 26 in 48th District Court in Bloomfield Township.
