Board supports Sushi Hana liquor license

Efforts on Monday, March 25, by a Bloomfield Township sushi restaurant to obtain a liquor license received full support from the Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees. Jeanie Lee, with Sushi Hana, 42656 Woodward, received unanimous approval by the board to recommend the transfer of a Class C liquor license from the Golden Crown Restaurant, 43239 Woodward, Bloomfield Township, to her restaurant. While Class C liquor license approvals are controlled by the state's liquor control commission, the liquor control commission requires a recommendation of approval from the municipality where the license will be located. Bloomfield Township Clark Jan Roncelli said Lee has worked diligently for more than two years to have the license transferred. “I hope in increases business and allows them to do more,” Roncelli said. The board also approved the restaurant's site plan and special land use request. The restaurant's seating capacity of 49 people was approved by the township's fire marshal. The plan also included a parking study that was reviewed by the township's traffic engineer. The approval included adjusted hours of operation, with the restaurant to stay open as late as 10:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and until 11:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The approval came after a February 19 recommendation for approval from the Bloomfield Township Planning Commission.
