Bloomfield police seek identity thief

Bloomfield Township police are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman believed to have opened several fraudulent credit card accounts at  area department stores in a local resident's name.

Officers responded about 4:45 a.m. on January 31 to the 2500 block of Coldspring Street for an identity theft complaint. The victim told police she received a letter in the mail regarding a fraudulent credit card application in her name. Detectives began an investigation and learned three accounts were opened in the victim's name.

Police said a woman was recored on video surveillance who is believed to be responsible for the thefts. The case remains under investigation.

Police ask anyone with information or who can help identify the woman to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
