Shoplifter flees without stolen merchandise

Bloomfield Township police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man believed to be responsible for stealing three dozen articles of clothing on Saturday, May 11, from a Bloomfield Township TJ Maxx store. Police responded about 2:45 p.m. to a retail fraud complaint at TJ Maxx, 2139 Telegraph Road, where the manager told officers that a black man wearing a black North Face sweatshirt hid 48 clothing items in two shopping bags. The items had an estimated value of $600. Police said the man was confronted by employees during the incident, at which point he dropped the bags. The man then left the area in a white Dodge Durango. The case is under investigation. Bloomfield Township police are asking anyone with information or who recognizes the man to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
