Eastpointe man tied to series of township thefts

An Eastpointe man was arrested by Bloomfield Township police on Tuesday, August 27, in connection to a spate of thefts in the township and Rochester Hills, police said.
Bloomfield Township police officers patrolling the area near Maple and Lahser roads on August 27 noticed the man about 12:45 a.m. sitting in his vehicle with the lights off. Police said an officer approached the vehicle, at which point the driver started to drive away. The officer then stopped the vehicle for a defective equipment violation.
The driver, identified by police as Kyle Dushay Moton, 23, of Eastpointe, admitted during the traffic stop to taking items from several vehicles in the area. Officers recovered several stolen items from his vehicle.
Police said Moton also was tied to several vehicle break-ins in other areas of Bloomfield Township and in Rochester Hills.
Moton was arraigned on Thursday, August 29, in 48th District Court before Magistrate Andra Richardson on charges of possession of stolen credit cards, receiving and concealing stolen property, larceny of a bicycle, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and driving with a suspended license.
He was held on $10,000 bond.
