Briefcase stolen from vehicle at residence

An unlocked vehicle was an easy target for an unknown thief on the morning of Friday, September 13, when a briefcase was stolen from a Birmingham resident's vehicle while it was parked in the 1800 block of Fairway Drive.

Birmingham police said the victim contacted authorities about 11 a.m. after discovering the item was missing from the vehicle. The vehicle was parked outside and unlocked at the time of the theft. There were no suspects or witnesses.

Birmingham police are investigating.
