Police in Birmingham are investigating a pair of seemingly unrelated home burglaries that were reported to police on Friday, September 27.

The call to police came about 2 p.m. on Friday when residents in the 1400 block of Emmons Avenue returned home to find their bedroom door unlocked and some items missing. The victims told police the bedroom door was normally locked.

Police said there was no damage to the house, but one window had been left open. The victims said cash and a bracelet were missing from the bedroom.

A second incident was reported to police about 5 p.m. on the same day when a resident in the 1700 block of Midvale Road contacted police about a burglary.

Police said the victims told investigators they arrived home and discovered the front door was slightly open and there appeared to be marks around the door frame that appeared to be made from tools.

The victims told police several pieces of jewelry were missing from the home.

There were no immediate suspects or witnesses.

The cases are under investigation.
