Woman flees accident in stolen car

A 39-year-old Birmingham woman was arrested on Wednesday, October 30, on suspicion of fleeing an accident and driving a stolen car after police said she drove away from an accident in a car reported stolen from Maryland. Birmingham police responded about 5 p.m. to the complaint that a vehicle fled the scene of an accident near Woodward and Maple in Birmingham. Officers located the vehicle near Lincoln and Woodward and stopped the driver. The woman told police she fled because she didn't know what to do after the accident occurred. Officers discovered the vehicle was stolen out of Montgomery County, Maryland. The driver was arrested in connection with leaving the scene of an accident and possession of a stolen automobile.
