Birmingham man robbed, beaten in parking lot

A Birmingham man was beaten and robbed on Friday, December 27, by two people in the 2700 block of Maple in Birmingham, police said. Birmingham police responding about 10 a.m. to complaints about someone being assaulted in a parking lot arrived to the area and discovered an injured 32-year-old man in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Police said the man, who was bleeding and had a swollen eye, told officers he returned from the bank and was walking across the parking lot when he was approached by an unknown man and woman. The victim told police the pair demanded his wallet and phone, then punched him several times. The couple was described as a black male in his early to mid 30s, about 6-feet, 3-inches tall with a muscular build, and a black woman in her 60s with a skinny build. The case is under investigation.
