Walgreens target of shoplifting incidents

Birmingham police received three separate reports of retail fraud incidents at the Walgreens in Birmingham, 34300 Woodward Avenue. Employees at the store reported on Tuesday, May 5, a black man stole numerous items from the drug store, including a bluetooth speaker, a bottle of liquor and an employee's wallet. He is described as a black male, in his late 40's to early 50's, about 5-feet 9-inches tall, balding with a black beard. The second incident occurred on Friday, May 8, when officers were dispatched to the store after a man stole wine and then took off on foot. Birmingham police later found the man, a 48-year-old from Detroit, and issued him a citation for retail fraud. Officers were also called to Walgreens on Monday, May 11, after a 41-year-old man from Detroit was seen taking items off the shelf and putting them inside his coat. When he left the store, officers were waiting for him. They approached him and confirmed there were multiple stolen items in his coat. He was issued a citation for retail fraud.
