Resident tricked by phony Amazon number

A Bloomfield Township resident reported to police on Tuesday, June 16, she had been the victim of fraud. The resident, who lives in the 100 block of Douglas, had wanted to return an order to Amazon. She googled “Amazon returns” and was led to a fake web page and phone number, which she called. While on the phone she was asked for her credit card number in order to have the Amazon items returned for her. After providing her credit card number, she began to receive notifications that several gift cards had been purchased with her credit card. Bloomfield Township police are investigating.
