The city of Birmingham will host a drop-off recycling event at Seaholm High School, 2436 W. Lincoln, in the north parking lot, on Saturday, August 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Birmingham residents will be able to drop off electronics, household hazardous waste, cardboard and Styrofoam. Residents are to remain in their vehicle, and face masks are required. Recyclable items must be placed in the trunk, hatches or pick-up beds – no items may be placed in the back seats of vehicles.
Residents will need their driver's license for proof of residency.
Vehicles should enter off Cranbrook Road and exit off Midvale. The first table will be for paint and other household hazardous waste, and the second table will be for electronics.
The SOCCRA recycling center recently reopened to the public by appointment only following a closure due to safety concerns surrounding COVID-19 and ongoing congestion at the site from trash haulers. In addition to appointments at SOCRRA, Birmingham’s drop-off event will help those who have accumulated many recyclable items and household hazardous waste following spring cleaning earlier this year.
