Home owner sees thief on stairs in home

A home on the 2000 block of Heronwood Drive in Bloomfield Township was broken into in the early morning hours on Monday, August 3. Bloomfield Township police were informed that the resident woke up to the sound of her garage door opening. She left her bedroom and heard her son’s bedroom door opening. While she checked on her son, she heard the suspect run down the stairs. She told police she saw an unknown subject in a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue pants, with a black bag over the shoulder, standing at the bottom of the stairs. After retreating back into her bedroom, she heard the suspect leave the house. Police searched the area for the suspect, with assistance from a police K-9 officer, but were unable to locate the suspect, who appeared to have entered the house with a garage door opener found in an unlocked vehicle in the driveway. The suspect stole an old cellphone and a credit card. Bloomfield Township police are currently investigating.
