Driver hits, kills pedestrian on Maple
A Bloomfield Hills woman called 911 at approximately 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, saying that she had hit a pedestrian on Maple west of Coolidge in Birmingham, and police later reported the man died of his injuries. Birmingham police dispatch report they received a 911 call from the driver, a 60-year-old female from Bloomfield Hills, who stated she had hit a person while driving westbound on Maple. The driver told officers she passed through the intersection of Maple and Coolidge on a green light when she struck the pedestrian. Officers located a 30-year-old male from Birmingham who was laying in the roadway who succumbed to his injuries. Birmingham police is a member of the South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team (SOCCIT), and the team was called to the scene to conduct an investigation, which is ongoing at this time.
