Teens beat man on scooter for going too slow

Birmingham police were dispatched to the area of Eton and Lincoln Streets the evening of Friday, September 18, after they received calls about that several male teens were beating a man on a scooter. The victim, a 34-year-old man from Birmingham, told police that he was riding his scooter southbound on Old Woodward near Oakland when a black Lincoln SUV pulled up and yelled at him for going too slow. The occupants of the vehicle then allegedly threw a water bottle at him. According to the victim, the SUV followed him to his residence. Once he arrived home, he told officers three to four white males and one black male teen, all approximately 17 years old, got out of the vehicle and began to punch him in the face. His shoulder was dislocated after two of the suspects tackled him to the ground. All the of the suspects then returned to the vehicle and fled before police arrived. Birmingham police are currently investigating.
