Gift cards, credit card stolen from car

A Birmingham resident discovered her car had been broken into during the overnight hours of Tuesday, November 3, after she noticed gift cards and a credit card missing from her wallet. The resident, a 35-year-old female who lives in the 1300 block of Bird Avenue, contacted Birmingham police on Wednesday, November 4, after she received an alert from a retailer who she has a credit card with noticed a suspicious transaction made in an Ohio store location. The woman informed officers that her vehicle had been parked in her driveway, with her wallet and purse inside. She could not remember if she had locked the vehicle. She said that when she returned to the automobile around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, she initially did not notice anything missing or out of the ordinary. Later that day, she noticed several gift cards and a retail credit card missing from her wallet, and she received the alert from the retailer. Birmingham police report there are no witnesses at this time, and an investigation is ongoing.
