Almost $450 in meat, alcohol stolen from Kroger

A suspect who stole several small bottles of alcohol and packaged meat from the Kroger store at Maple and Woodward in Birmingham on Wednesday, July 27, was found and arrested for retail fraud, Birmingham police reported.


Around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, an officer was dispatched to the Kroger at 700 E. Maple Road. A witness reported that an individual had stolen several small bottles of alcohol as well as packaged meat from the grocery store, totaling $445.16.


Police officers were able to locate the suspect, who admitted stealing all of the items.


The stolen merchandise was returned to Kroger and the individual was arrested for retail fraud.
