BBAC celebrates 40th annual holiday shop
The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC) annual holiday shop is definitely open this year for holiday shoppers, celebrating its 40th year as a unique shopping destination from Thursday, December 3, through Monday, December 21.
The Holiday Shop is free and open to the public. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
The BBAC has transformed its gallery space into a unique boutique offering one-of-a-kind, artisan-made gift items. This year, visitors can find handmade works from 200 participating artists. New this year to the Holiday Shop, in addition to ceramics, jewelry, home décor, greeting cards, stationery, glassware, paintings, candles, soaps, kitchenware and the popular ornament gallery, shoppers will enjoy the debut of the new “Mug Wall,” as well as a distinct increase in men's gift items.
Visitors are offered a safe and comfortable shopping experience. Capacity in the spacious 3,000-square-foot galleries will be limited to allow for appropriate distancing, and masks are required for all staff and shoppers.
In a year where art fairs and many art shows were cancelled, the non-profit BBAC itself was closed for nearly eight months, the support of shoppers at this year's Holiday Shop is more crucial than ever, the BBAC noted. All proceeds from the Holiday Shop benefit working artists and BBAC ArtAccess and education programs.
