Birmingham resident witnesses thief in her home

A Birmingham resident whose home in the 400 block of Henley Drive is undergoing renovation reported to police an in-progress home invasion the evening of Thursday, April 28.

At approximately 7:50 p.m., Birmingham police were dispatched to the home, where the reporting individual, a 33-year-old Birmingham resident, stated she witnessed an unknown individual in her home who had just run out the front door.

Upon arrival, officers cleared the residence and checked the immediate area with no success.

The home is currently being renovated and the homeowner believes someone may have gained access from the unlocked door to the garage.

Officers checked areas and door handles for fingerprints with negative results. Nothing appeared to be missing from either the home or the garage.

Birmingham police said there are no additional witnesses or suspects at this time.
