Couples fight at Hunter House restaurant

A pair of couples got into a fight during the evening hours of Saturday, May 22, while at Hunter House restaurant, 35100 Woodward Avenue, Birmingham police said.

Officers were dispatched about 9:30 p.m. for a report of a fight in progress at the restaurant, but arrived to find no violence at the scene. Officers spoke with a 20-year-old Rochester man who said he was involved in a fight.

The man said he and his girlfriend, 21, also from Rochester, were assaulted by a 19-year-old Oxford man and a 20-year-old woman from Lake Orion. The victim said he and his girlfriend are acquaintances of the couple.

The man said he and his girlfriend were hanging out with some friends when the alleged assailants arrived and started yelling at them. The verbal altercation became physical and the females started fighting. The man said he attempted to break it up when the other man began punching him in the face several times before pushing him over a guard rail onto the hood of a car.

The couple left the scene.

Birmingham police reported the case is under investigation.
