District hosts female teen empowering session

In an effort to highlight the importance of women in sports, Birmingham Public Schools is hosting Empower Her, a free multi-seminar for middle and high school girls in sports at Groves High School on Saturday, February 3, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The event, which is free and open to the community, aims to celebrate females in sports, shape self-confidence, healthy bodies and future careers.

Aimed primarily at middle and high school girls in sports, the event will have panels, breakout sessions and guest speakers, including sports journalist Joanne C. Gerstner and U.S. Paralympic swimmer Cheryl Angelelli.

Groves High School is located at 20500 W. 13 Mile Road, Beverly Hills.
