Man arrested at Birmingham credit union

On Tuesday, February 14, Birmingham police officers were dispatched to Michigan United Credit Union, at 576 E. Lincoln Street, after receiving report of a man attempting to cash a fake check.

Officers investigating the incident confirmed with the bank’s staff and the owner of the check that it was fraudulent. Originally, the check was made out to another individual for a different amount than the $645 the suspect was attempting to cash it for.

The individual was arrested and charged with uttering and publishing, according to police. Birmingham detectives are following up on the case.
