Man wanting food causes disturbance

A drunk and hungry Florida man denied food at a Birmingham restaurant during the twilight hours of Sunday, July 25, responded by throwing other food at employees, police said.

Birmingham police responded about 2:09 a.m. to Leo’s Coney Island, 200 S. Old Woodward, for a report of a fight in progress. Officers arrived to speak to a 21-year-old Ft. Lauderdale man who said he was disruptive after being told the restaurant wasn’t taking orders.

Witnesses said the man yelled and threw his drink at employees after being told the kitchen was closed.

Birmingham Police said the man had a blood alcohol limit three times the legal limit. He was cited for disorderly conduct.
