Police arrest driver after road rage assault

Witnesses called police around 9 p.m. Friday, July 15, when a man left his car in the intersection of Hamilton Row and Park Street in downtown Birmingham and began punching another man in the face.

Officers arrived at Hamilton Row and Park streets to investigate the reported assault. Several witnesses reported seeing a man exit his vehicle and begin punching a man who was walking along the street.

The victim told police that earlier in the evening, he had seen a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, and yelled at the driver to “slow down,” and then struck the vehicle with his hand. The driver appears to be the same individual who later punched the pedestrian.

Officers were able to locate the individual and placed him under arrest for assault and battery.
