Removed trees tip resident off to identity fraud

:

A Birmingham resident living in the 500 block of Catalpa Drive reportedly believes her identity was stolen after several tree removal companies showed up to her property uninvited.

The victim told police that over the last couple of weeks, multiple companies have shown up at her house to remove a tree from the property even though she did not contact any of them. Reportedly, the tree companies have said they received payments and a request from a person they thought was the property owner.

According to Birmingham police, an investigation is ongoing.
