Thief discovered stealing mail from residences

Tino Lopez Evans

The Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety made an arrest on Monday, November 6, after responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle near the mailboxes on Stratford Lane, where they discovered a large amount of mail addressed to residences on Stratford Lane, Boulder Lane, and Arbor Court in Bloomfield Hills in the suspect’s vehicle.

Upon arrival, suspected thief Tino Lopez Evans attempted to flee on foot. He was soon taken into custody by officers after a short foot pursuit.

Evans was charged with one count of stealing a financial transaction device, one count of resisting and obstructing police officers, and three counts of mail theft. He was arraigned on Tuesday, November 7, before Judge Diane D’Agostini in the 48th District Court.

Evans is currently at the Oakland County Jail on a $35,000 bond pending his next court date.

The Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety thanked the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office and the United States Postal Inspection Service for their work on this case.
