Thrown traffic barricade lands on car

An orange and white cross beam used as a traffic barricade was thrown off the top of the Peabody parking structure, located at 300 Peabody Street, around 9 p.m. on Friday, August 2, and landed on a woman’s SUV as she was attempting to leave the parking structure.

Witnesses reported seeing someone throw the barricade from the upper floors of the parking garage. The barricade then landed on the woman's SUV, denting and scratching the hood of her vehicle as she was in the process of paying as she was leaving the parking garage.

Birmingham police said they found several barricades and caution tape on the upper floors which were probably leftover from recent maintenance, but no suspects.

An investigation is ongoing.
