Township safety path contract awarded to Italia
Italia Construction, one of four bidders for the contract to construct the 2021 safety path program, was awarded he contract for $537,695.64, at the Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, September13.
Olivia Olsztyn-Budry, director of the township's engineering and environmental services, explained Italia Construction was the lowest of the four bidders, and the company has history with Bloomfield Township.
“It has constructed a majority of the township's safety paths,” she said.
Olsztyn-Budry said a total of four bids were received for this project on September 7, with Italia Construction of Washington Township coming in as the lowest bidder, at $537,695.64.
Trustees unanimously approved Italia's bid to construct the safety paths.
In December 2020, trustees approved the 2021 safety path program, to include the east side of Telegraph Road and the west side of Lahser Road, both between 14 Mile and Lincoln Roads. In addition, an easement is required to construct the safety path on Lahser Road near 14 Mile Road adjacent to the Pinehurst development, Olsztyn-Budry explained. The Pinehurst development has requested landscaping and screening along their property for screening of the safety path from the development prior to granting the easement.
The total project cost estimate is $817,365, inclusive of landscaping.
