Vehicle stolen from church parking lot

An unknown man was seen stealing a vehicle from the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church in Birmingham on Thursday, June 9.


Officers were called to the First United Methodist Church, 1600 W. Maple Road, on Friday, June 10, on a report of a stolen vehicle. The reporting party stated a vehicle was stolen from the northeast parking lot the night before between 9:30 and 10 p.m. A witness observed an unknown individual attempt to enter the locked doors of the church before proceeding to the vehicle. The suspect entered the vehicle and drove south out of the parking lot.


The reporting party informed officers that the keys were in possession of the church and the vehicle was believed to have been locked at the time it was stolen.


Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
