Arts & Apples Festival this weekend
Rochester Park will host hundreds of artists from around the country Friday, September 8, through Sunday, September 10, as the Paint Creek Center for the Arts holds its annual Arts & Apples Festival. The festival has a 50-year tradition in the city and serves as the major annual fundraiser for the Paint Creek Center. Starting on Friday, September 8, from 4 to 7:30 p.m., the festival transforms the 30-acre park into one of the country's top fine arts fairs, with more than 290 artists exhibiting, dozens of food vendors and more than a dozen musical acts throughout the weekend. The festival will feature a variety of artists and art mediums, including two- and three-dimensional mixed media, clay, digital art, drawing, non-wearable fiber art, glass, jewelry, leather, metalsmithing, painting, photography, sculpture, and more.. A Kids Art Zone will allow children to make and take art during demonstrations, and offers face painting and a monster-sized coloring mural. Festival entry is free, but a $5 donation is suggested. Festival hours run from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 8; 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 9; and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 10.
